Oil and Grease Resistant (OGR) Paper
OGR paper is specially treated or coated paper designed to resist the penetration of oils and greases. It’s widely used in food service and packaging applications to prevent staining, maintain product integrity, and comply with food safety standards.
Common Applications:
- Fast food wrappers (burgers, sandwiches, fries)
- Bakery bags
- Pizza box liners
- Microwave popcorn bags
- Takeout containers
Types of Treatments:
- Fluorochemical Coatings: Traditionally used for high resistance, but now controversial due to environmental and health concerns (PFAS).
- Clay Coating or Waxing: More natural alternatives, offering moderate grease resistance.
- Biodegradable/Bio-based Coatings: Newer innovations include plant-based barriers or PLA coatings.
